Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Nanna, Aunty, Cousin, Godmother, Teacher, Friend - Mum will be remembered for her enthusiasm, independence, sense of humour, generosity of spirit, love of family and friends, love of sunshine and nature, helping others through her fundraising activities, bringing people together and her involvement in the local church (wherever she was living).
Mum's faith was very important to her as was her wish to die at St Luke's Hospice, Sheffield. Thankfully, this wish was fulfilled and Mum died peacefully having received the fantastic care and support of the wonderful staff at St Luke's. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It felt like home from home and the friendly, understanding, loving care they showed Mum and her family was second to none. We are comforted with those memories, knowing she had the death she wanted.
Mum leaves a big hole in our lives. She loved her family. It's strange to think we will never receive another phone call, voicemail, visit, birthday box, homemade card or her enthusiastic 'Ooh, I've just had a thought....' Not always enthusiastically received, I have to say! But her heart was always in the right place.
Donations in Mum's name are gratefully received to enable St Luke's to carry on their invaluable work in the community and at St Luke's Hospice itself, Little Common Lane, Sheffield. Thank you!

Thank you Karen for keeping me informed of your sad news but the family were fortunate to be present at Christine's passing. I spent 3 years at Uni with Mal and met Christine soon after and Chris and I were present at their wedding. We enjoyed annual summer breaks either in Formby and Saughall and in Manchester and Ulverston spending hours playing very competitive badminton and tennis and card games. Christine enjoyed the beach visits - Mal was not impressed - I remember that Mal refused to ever take his shirt off. Once we had our children we passed our badminton and tennis to them and they acquired considerable musical instrumental skills and family concerts were always a memorable success. Moving to Arnside was a success with Christine building piles of charity shoe boxes blocking off the hallway and cataloguing books in the shops. Mal's passing was a shock and eventually Christine moved to Sheffield to be closer to Karen's growing family. Philip, Nick and Ingrid add their love and best wishes to mine John Steele 21.06.26

Aunty Chris will be greatly missed, and we all have many fond memories of visiting her while growing up. We will always remember the little things that made her special – the ducks, the shoeboxes, and being reminded to make sure the kitchen cupboards were closed. We are grateful that the hospice was able to support her and help her spend her final days as she wished. Sending our thoughts to all the family. Rachel, Jennifer and Holly

I will miss her phone calls and advice (usually wise). As a family we had many very happy holidays with her and Uncle Malcolm at Arnside. The kids always looked forward to seeing her and making up shoe boxes. Picnics were also a highlight, with the sandwiches being particularly memorable. I also cannot thank her enough for the support she gave to me in the absence of my own mother, someone to share the experiences of motherhood with. It's good to know her life ended where and how she wanted (although I couldn't imagine her letting it happen any other way). Thank you Karen for all you did for her.
